Why Your School Needs a Youth Motivational Speaker
How can a youth motivational speaker help your students? Our young people are growing up in the midst of the opioid epidemic. Every day I hear more tragic stories of young people dying from an overdose or drug-related car crash. Our youth are facing challenges today much greater than those we faced.
Impaired driving, substance abuse, gang violence, and cyber bullying are just a few of the problems plaguing our teenagers today. Many teens cave to peer pressure to experiment with drugs and alcohol.
What can you do to make a lasting difference in the life of a teenager? We must work together to give them the tools they need to succeed in today’s world. Even if they succeed academically, teenagers often lack the tools to succeed in the workplace. We have to instill confidence in them. We cannot give up on this generation!
Youth Motivational Speaker Tells Powerful Story of Love!
My name is Darryl Rodgers. I’m a youth motivational speaker. I started down this path after our oldest son, Chase, lost his life in a wreck in 2014. First, I wrote a book about Chase’s life, titled, “A Life Half Lived”, A True Story of Love, Addiction, Tragedy, and Hope. Click on the link to download a free copy using Amazon Kindle. Paperback copies are $9.95. I have continued to write and speak since the release of that book in November, 2015. Here is an update on a few of the things I’ve been doing and some of the things you will be hearing more about soon.
I’ve spoken at a variety of different venues, to include schools, government events, sporting events, and churches. Check out video of one of my speeches below about Chase.
Short Film About Chase’s Life – A Work in Progress
I’ve been working on a short film about the life of my son, Chase. Several people have volunteered to help with this film. The film includes interviews with some of Chase’s friends and family. I let them tell the story of Chase’s life. I’ve also included a few clips from home videos of Chase. Teenagers will be able to relate to this film. We interviewed young people from ages 16 – 24 for the movie. I still have at least one interview left to conduct. I’ve begun the editing process. What we’ve done so far is coming along nicely. I wish this project was moving faster, but it will come together soon. It is going to be a very compelling short film. I project it will be around 20 – 25 minutes in length. I will keep you posted.
Comprehensive Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention Program
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I have a vision for a comprehensive substance abuse awareness and prevention program for schools. I have outlined my ideas in a Word document. This project is on the back burner at least until I have completed the film about Chase’s life. Substance abuse prevention is not a one-time hit or miss proposition. There must be consistent follow up to ensure success.
More Books in the Works
Currently, I am working on two different books. One of them is a self-help, positive mental attitude book for middle school students. I hope to have the manuscript for that book completed soon. The other book is a novel that is suitable for middle school students. I will keep you informed. These books both have a super hero theme just like my speeches. This is because Chase was a big fan of super hero movies. The super hero theme is a very good platform to build on when speaking to youth.
Book Darryl to Speak at Your Event or School
When I tell Chase’s story, young people listen. They get quiet and move to the edge of their seats. This story is captivating. It inspires, motivates, and touches the heart of all who hear it. I will deliver this captivating story to your students at no charge and I will donate some of my books to your school library. In return I will need video releases signed in advance by parents. I will bring in a film crew to capture my speech and the reactions of some of the members of the audience. The location needs to be an auditorium that has good acoustics and lighting. This will aid me in creating a short promotional video. Let me know if we can work together to make a lasting impact on the lives of your students.

Darryl has recently spoken at our church, Kenansville Baptist Church. He has a poignant yet hopeful story to share. Darryl let us in on a story of a family dealing with a beloved son’s addiction. He left us with the hope that comes from reaching one person at a time against this horrible monster that is trying to destroy our children.
We were touched by his sincerity so much so that we invited him back a second time to spearhead a youth event for the whole county. I highly recommend Darryl as a speaker.
